About
Having gained a degree in Music and Theology from New College, Oxford, where he was captivated by the beauty of the built environment and developed a keen awareness of historic styles, Philip studied interior and architectural design at Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London, where he was deeply inspired by an eclectic range of architects and designers including Carlo Scarpa, John Nash, Charles Barry, John Fowler and Dorothy Draper.
Following working for a renowned London interior design firm, Philip established his eponymous Studio in Farnham on the Surrey-Hampshire border in 2018.
Philip’s design philosophy centres on a seamless integration of each property’s location, culture, period and history with its design; his work enhances and enlivens the character of buildings, creating a comfortable and playful atmosphere that celebrates relaxed elegance and warmth.
He seamlessly interweaves antiques, newer pieces, historical and architectural details, whilst maintaining a contemporary perspective.
I combine a strong use of colour, pattern and architectural detailing with bold contemporary fabrics and furniture; ensuring the space is just right – both for the client and for the building.
I have an open and warm approach to his clients. No two clients have the same lives, needs, desires, tastes or dreams, just as no two interiors have the same light, proportions, character, history or personality.
Each client and project are different, and so too is each and every space, whether that be a private house, restaurant, bar or hotel.
“We have loved working with Philip. He has both honed-in on our style and the kinds of things we love at the same time as giving us fresh ideas and suggestions. He has given us confidence in our choices and guided us to new possibilities. He’s got a great eye and design flair and has always got what we needed to us when we needed it!”
